Hong Kong Tennis Open: Last China Players Exit
Zhang Shuai and Wang Yafan lost in straight sets, while top seed Belinda Bencic continued her climb into the world top 10.
China's last two representatives at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open were sent out of the tournament on Wednesday. No 1 seed Belinda Bencic marched on after winning the Japan Open.
- Zhang Shuai lost to Russia's Anna Kalinskaya 6-1, 6-1.
- Wang Yafan lost to Switzerland's Bencic 6-2, 6-2 in one hour and 16 minutes.
"I felt good on the court," Bencic said. "I tried to play aggressively, tried to play my game, and it worked out well.
Bencic's victory marks her sixth win in a row, continuing her climb into the world top 10 after being '913 or something' a year ago.
