Creepy Carolina: Exploring the Lowcountry’s Haunted History

Over the last three years, News 4 photographer Brian Heins and I have traveled around the Lowcountry to uncover the eerie legends and haunted history that make this region unique.

Our Creepy Carolina series began in October 2022 with a visit to the Old City Jail in downtown Charleston, where we explored the chilling legend of

Lavinia Fisher, often called America’s first female serial killer.

We also boarded the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant to hear the mysterious story of a pilot who vanished without a trace.
