Six Flags America in Bowie, Maryland has officially closed its doors for the last time.
The site, which opened in 1974 as a wildlife center, was sold and rebranded several times before being taken over by Six Flags in 1999.
"I think they should keep it," said park attendee Brian Fox. "It definitely gives a lot of kids jobs, things to do during the summer. Next year, what are they gonna do?"
Prince George's County leaders noted that the park generates around $3 million in tax revenue annually, but believe the site has potential for greater revenue.
The closure of Six Flags America leaves a void, with the next closest amusement park located in New Jersey.
