New Pilot Program for Behavioral Health Careers

A new pilot program, CLIMB 2.0, aims to provide pathways to Kentucky high school students interested in behavioral health careers.

The initiative targets eight eastern Kentucky high schools to address the shortage of mental and behavioral health services in the region.

Collaboration and Goals

CLIMB 2.0 is a collaboration between the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, the Cabinet for Health and Family Service, and its Department of Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities.

It stands for Career Ladders in Mental and Behavioral Health, focusing on providing career pathways to high school students.

"We've been looking at ways through fast term, short term certificates, to enable us to be able to really extend the service providers as much as we can in those areas."

Leslie Sizemore, vice president for workforce and economic development, highlights the limited access to psychiatric help in eastern and western Kentucky counties.
