As the fall season ends, a host of skeletons, witches, ghosts, and pumpkins are on display in yards around Ocracoke Island, playing a big part in this year's decorations.
Judging for the Ocracoke Civic & Business Association Halloween Decorating Contest took place on the evening of October. The anonymous judges noted that they had some tough deliberations, saying
“People did a good job... There were a lot of strong contenders, and we thank everyone for their efforts.”
