Workers, Communities Left Behind as Just Transition Funding Falls Short | Science Africa

Just Transition Funding Falls Short

A new report by ActionAid International reveals that only a small fraction of global climate finance is being used to support workers, women, and local communities in the transition to a greener future.

The report, Climate Finance for Just Transition: How the Finance Flows, found that only 2.8 percent of all climate finance goes toward "just transition" projects, which prioritize fairness, inclusion, and protection for people affected by the shift away from fossil fuels and industrial agriculture.

The transition to a greener future must support and prioritise workers, women, and local communities.

Author's summary: Climate finance falls short in supporting workers and communities.
