Mayfield Urges "Fundamental Shift" in Approach to Workplace Health
The Government will establish a three-year vanguard project with employers and health providers to create a new "healthy work standard" and reduce employee absenteeism.
This project follows the recommendations made in the Keep Britain Working review, led by Sir Charlie Mayfield, which calls for a
"fundamental shift"in approach to workplace health and wellbeing.
- Move from a model where health at work is largely left to the individual and the NHS
- To a model where it becomes a shared responsibility between employers, employees, and health services
Employers, both large and small, will work with health service providers, including GPs, primary healthcare services, occupational health providers, and other third parties.
