£1.5 Billion Cable Factory Planning Application Paused

A new £1.5 billion subsea cable manufacturing facility at Hunterston has been put on hold until next year.

XLCC, the company behind the scheme, has postponed its refined planning application until next year.

According to a revised blueprint by XLCC, the height of the tower was previously set to be 186 metres, but it will now go up to 188m tall.

Concerns were raised at the Fairlie Community Council meeting that the proposed tower was now going to be 100 metres closer to the village in terms of visual impact.
