The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) will pay a Christmas bonus to recipients of 24 benefits this December.
The bonus is a one-off, tax-free payment of £10, established by the Pensioners and Family Income Supplement Payments Act 1972.
It has remained at £10 since its introduction, despite inflation, which would now equate to over £115 if it had kept pace.
Recipients of eligible benefits do not need to claim the bonus, as it will be automatically paid into their bank accounts.
