UNISON General Secretary Christina McAnea welcomed members from the south west to UNISON Centre to celebrate a major campaigning victory.
Members from Dorset, working across three NHS trusts, prevented the introduction of a subco that would have moved 1,700 facilities staff out of direct NHS employment, affecting their terms and conditions, including pensions.
“Every time we’ve seen a subco, we’ve launched a campaign against it – and this was no different,”
said Christina McAnea, who has led national opposition to subcos since 2017. She praised the campaign, calling Dorset’s victory
“a brilliant example of how organising works”.
