Tennis Takes First Loss in Sweet 16

Davie tennis players Corbin Drum and Kate Chaffin reached the 7A Midwest Regional semifinals, one step from advancing to the state tournament.
Both players showed grit in defeat, with Corbin Drum losing to the No. 1 seed (6-3, 6-4) and Kate Chaffin going 2-1 on the day.
“Corbin played the one seed really, really hard (6-3, 6-4),” coach Collin Ferebee said. “It was a competitive match all the way through.”
“Kate rolled (in the first round),” Ferebee said.
The tournament was held at Guilford College.
