How is UW supporting job seekers with disabilities?

Support for Job Seekers with Disabilities at UW

Youth with disabilities face significant challenges in the job market. As of this fall, the youth employment rate is approximately 54 per cent.

This number includes both youth with and without disabilities and is the lowest since 1999, excluding peak pandemic years.

“It’s pretty grim out there right now,” said Vanessa Sinclair, director of research and evaluation at the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW).

The CCRW notes that students and recent graduates with disabilities make up 20 per cent of the country’s youth but experience higher unemployment rates despite increased attendance in post-secondary education.
