Cameron Norrie Reaches Metz Semi-Finals

Cameron Norrie secured a spot in the semi-finals at the Moselle Open by defeating local favorite Kyrian Jacquet in a challenging match lasting two hours and 25 minutes. As the last remaining seed at the ATP 250 event, Norrie won the final 11 points to close out the victory.

“He surprised me a lot,” Norrie said about Jacquet, the third French player he has beaten this week. “He was mixing it up really well. A lot of slicing, then really aggressive at moments. His serve is really, really good. The French have so many good players, so many different kinds of players. I really liked the way he competed and he could have easily won the match in the second set as well, but I managed to stay tough.”

Jacquet hit 48 winners, half from his forehand, compared to Norrie’s 28. However, the 30-year-old Briton delivered his best tennis when it mattered most to advance to the last four.

Upcoming Challenge and Background

In the semi-finals, Norrie will face Lorenzo Sonego, who won the Metz title in 2022. Norrie is chasing his sixth tour-level title and his first since winning in Rio de Janeiro in 2023 against Carlos Alcaraz.

Other Quarter-Final Results

#NextGenATP star Learner Tien came from behind to overcome Matteo Berrettini 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 44 minutes, earning a place in his second tour-level semi-final.

“In his first Lexus ATP Head2Head meeting with Berrettini, the 19-year-old converted all three break points he earned,” according to Infosys ATP Stats.

Summary: Cameron Norrie survived a tough battle to reach the Metz semi-finals, while rising star Learner Tien upset Matteo Berrettini to join the last four.
