VERONA, Italy — Renowned ballet dancer Roberto Bolle will be the star attraction at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. The event, named “Beauty in Motion,” will take place in Verona’s ancient Roman amphitheater, one of the oldest arenas in the world, organizers announced.
The closing ceremony will honor the city of Verona, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and highlight the Arena’s historical significance as a venue for a famous summer opera festival. It will also celebrate athletic achievements and emphasize the urgent issue of climate change.
“If the climate continues to change, there won’t be Winter Olympics anymore.” — Alfredo Accatino, Artistic Director of the closing ceremony
The main stage inside the nearly 2,000-year-old Arena will be designed in the shape of a waterdrop. This symbolizes the connection between the mountain venues, the fertile Po River Valley (location of Milan and Verona), and the Venetian lagoon.
Bolle, who previously performed at the 2006 Winter Olympics opening ceremony in Turin, is well known in Verona. He annually returns to the Arena during summer for his “Roberto Bolle and Friends” gala. He is currently the only announced performer for the event.
Summary: Roberto Bolle will headline the symbolic and climate-conscious closing ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Verona’s historic Arena, bridging art, sport, and environmental awareness.
