The Kiwis' dominant pack and outstanding performances by Kini and five-eighth Dylan Brown secured their spot in the final against Samoa.
- Tonga needed to win by 18 points to qualify for the final but were unable to do so.
- Tonga's Eliesa Katoa was injured during the warm-up and left the field twice for head injury assessments.
Coach Kristian Woolf stated that Katoa did not require a concussion test after hitting the turf before the match.
The Kiwis will face Samoa in the Pacific Cup final on November 9.
