Motorist Fined and Disqualified for Speeding on M4

A 51-year-old motorist, Ben McCarthy, has been fined and banned from driving after being caught speeding on the M4.

McCarthy was driving a Range Rover Sport on the M4 junctions 19 to 20 and the M5 junctions 15 to 17 on September 20, 2024, when he was caught by an automatic camera doing 68mph in a 60mph zone.

At Bath Law Courts, McCarthy was fined £461, ordered to pay a £184 surcharge, and £110 in prosecution costs, totaling £755. He was also disqualified from driving for six months.

He is not the first motorist to be caught out by a variable speed limit on the M4.
