Russian military flights between Hmeimim Air Base in Syria and Al-Khadim Air Base in eastern Libya have resumed after a five-month suspension, according to Italy's Nova news agency.
A Russian Ilyushin Il-62M transport aircraft departed from Al-Khadim Air Base bound for Hmeimim, located in Syria's Latakia province, Moscow's main operational hub in the Middle East.
The resumption of flights comes just days after Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa's visit to Moscow, his first since the fall of Bashar Al-Assad's regime.
Flights between the two bases had previously been suspended, with Russia instead focusing its logistical movements on direct routes from Moscow or Belarus to eastern Libya, where Moscow has strengthened its military presence since March.
