Navy Loses Two Aircraft From USS Nimitz Aircraft Carrier Within 30 Minutes
The Navy's Pacific Fleet reported that a fighter jet and a helicopter based on the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier crashed into the South China Sea within 30 minutes of each other.
The three crew members of the MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter were rescued, and the two aviators in the F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jet ejected and were recovered safely. All five crew members are in stable condition, according to the fleet's statement.
The causes of the crashes are under investigation.
President Donald Trump suggested that "bad fuel" could have been the cause, ruling out foul play and stating there was "nothing to hide."
