The greyhound racing industry is pushing back against plans to ban the sport in Wales, citing data that shows a significant reduction in deaths and injuries.
Mark Bird, chief executive of the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB), claims that animal welfare charities are using "inaccurate, historic or even misleading" data to support the ban.
Deaths have "more than halved" and injuries have seen a "significant drop" last year, according to industry data.
The Welsh Government has introduced a draft law to ban greyhound racing, which would lead to the closure of Wales' last remaining track, the Valley Greyhound Stadium in Ystrad Mynach.
