COMELEC Disqualifies Tarlac City Mayor
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has declared Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap-Sulit ineligible to hold office due to a residency issue.
In a unanimous decision dated October 22, 2025, the COMELEC en banc ruled in favor of the petitioners, reversing an earlier decision that dismissed the case on technical grounds.

This was stated by Atty. Aaron Dapano, legal counsel of the petitioners, highlighting that Yap-Sulit failed to prove her residency in Barangay Tibag, Tarlac City, as required by law.
The ruling also withdrew Yap-Sulit’s proclamation as the winner of the May 2025 elections.
