Candidate Sues Virginia Elections Over Ballot Error
Chris White, a candidate for Lynchburg Commonwealth's Attorney, has filed a lawsuit against the Virginia Department of Elections.
The lawsuit claims that the department incorrectly listed his full name, Christopher G. White, on the ballot instead of the name he campaigned under, Chris White.
- White is seeking over $900,000 in damages.
- He asks that voting be halted, the ballot be corrected, and votes already cast be redone.
"I don't know what they think they are doing right now but it certainly is not following the Virginia code,"
White, an independent candidate, is challenging Republican incumbent Bethany Harrison in a contentious race.
Lynchburg voters are witnessing a heated race for the Commonwealth's Attorney position this November.
