An 18-year-old man was arrested in Ridgecrest following a sexual assault investigation, according to deputies.
On October 17, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Kern County Sheriff's deputies and investigators from the Kern County District Attorney’s Office executed a search warrant on Nolina Avenue.
- The operation aimed to arrest 18-year-old Elijah Cox, who was wanted for multiple felony charges related to a sexual assault investigation.
- Deputies found the home in poor condition and deemed it uninhabitable, leading to the removal of two juveniles for their safety.
- The children's parents, Bobbi Smith and Kevin Smith, were released at the scene pending child neglect charges.
Cox was arrested on a felony Ramey warrant and booked into Kern County Jail.
