Fentanyl Overdoses on the Rise in Las Vegas

Despite a reported 27% drop in overdose deaths in most states in 2024, Nevada continues to experience an increase in overdose cases, with 802 reported in Clark County last year, over 400 of which were attributed to fentanyl.

The synthetic opioid remains the leading cause of fatal overdoses in the area, with fentanyl-involved deaths surging 699.8% in the last six years, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.

Many people are only a few degrees of separation from knowing someone who’s died of a drug-related overdose or nearly has.

In response to the crisis, Las Vegans are teaming up to provide Narcan training in neighborhood bars.
