D’Angelo, the Grammy-winning R&B singer, has died after a long bout with cancer, his family said in a statement.
He was credited with launching the neo-soul movement in the 1990s with his raspy yet smooth voice.

The singer, whose real name was Michael Eugene Archer, was recognized for his mainstream attention with the shirtless “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” music video.
