Signal Mountain Diverts Large Amount Of Cardboard From Landfill
Signal Mountain has a new contract with Waste Connections for garbage and construction debris disposal services.
A total of $9,660 was collected from sanitation billing for July through September, with $3,500 remaining outstanding.
The city has successfully diverted a large amount of cardboard from municipal solid waste, redirecting 14 tons to be recycled, in addition to the approximately 64 tons of cardboard that the city can sell.

This achievement is a result of 21,306 visits to the recycling center by citizens.
The public works department is also working on rebuilding dilapidated sidewalks using a combination of funding from a TDOT grant and town funds.
