Governor Signs Bill Requiring Eight-Story Development Behind Santa Barbara Mission to Undergo Environmental Review

Environmental Housing Bill Signed into Law

A new law was signed by Governor Gavin Newsom on Saturday, requiring an eight-story development behind the Santa Barbara Mission to undergo environmental review.

The law is a result of Senate Bill 158, a trailer bill that acts as a "cleanup" to earlier legislation, according to Senator Scott Weiner and Representative Jesse Gabriel.

Earlier this year, lawmakers passed Assembly Bill 130, which made significant changes to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
