Under the Building Resilience to Climate Change (BRCC) project, the Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has conducted a series of workshops focused on mainstreaming climate change.
These workshops aim to equip government officials and stakeholders with the necessary skills and knowledge to integrate climate change considerations into policy and planning processes effectively. This effort contributes to strengthening national and provincial resilience against climate impacts.
"By mainstreaming climate change, we ensure sustainable development and reduce vulnerabilities of communities across Papua New Guinea," said a CCDA official during the workshops.
The initiative brings together multiple sectors, emphasizing cross-agency cooperation to address climate vulnerabilities comprehensively. UNDP’s role includes providing technical support and capacity-building expertise, reinforcing the government's climate adaptation framework.
Participants have gained enhanced understanding of climate risks and adaptation strategies, enabling better implementation of inclusive policies tailored to local needs. This workshop series represents a significant step toward embedding climate resilience in development agendas.
CCDA and UNDP's partnership exemplifies collaborative efforts to empower stakeholders in managing climate challenges through education and strategic planning.
