A55 Flintshire stretch to be improved

Work is set to start on a major improvement project on a stretch of the A55 in Flintshire, North Wales.

The project will see the upgrade of a 7-mile stretch of the A55 between the J16 and J19 roundabouts, including the construction of a new slip road and the widening of the existing carriageway.

According to the Welsh Government, the upgrade is expected to improve journey times and reduce congestion on the road, which is one of the busiest in North Wales.

The project is being funded by the Welsh Government and is expected to be completed by 2025.

Flintshire Council leader Aaron Shotton said: "This is a major investment in our transport infrastructure and will have a significant impact on the local community."

Transport Minister, Ken Skates, added: "This project is part of our ongoing commitment to improving road safety and reducing congestion on our roads."

Aaron Shotton continued: "The upgrade will also provide better access to the Port of Mostyn and the surrounding area, which is a major hub for trade and industry."

"It will also improve air quality by reducing the number of vehicles on the road and make the area more attractive to businesses and residents alike."
