Smotrich Urges Action Against Israel's "Cancer" of Radical Islam

Israel's Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir's, predecessor, Betzalel Smotrich, has urged action against the "cancer" of radical Islam in the country.

Smotrich, who served as the Transportation Minister from 2021 to 2023, warned that the growing threat of radical Islam in Israel could lead to a "disaster" if not addressed.

In a statement, Smotrich said:

"We are facing a cancer that is eating away at our society, a cancer that is fueled by extremist ideologies and a culture of hatred and violence. If we don't take action, we risk facing a disaster that will destroy everything we hold dear."

Smotrich's comments come as Israel grapples with the aftermath of a series of terror attacks that have left dozens dead and injured.

Among those killed was a 25-year-old man who was stabbed to death in a Tel Aviv park, while a 45-year-old man was shot and killed in a separate attack in the city of Acre.

The attacks have sparked widespread outrage and calls for greater action to address the growing threat of radical Islam in Israel.

Smotrich's warning follows a similar message from Ben-Gvir, who has vowed to take tough action against radical Islam in Israel.

Ben-Gvir has said that he will work to "uproot" the "evil ideology" of radical Islam and bring those responsible for the attacks to justice.
