Now 33, Hutcherson returns to television in the 2025 HBO comedy I Love LA, where he plays the boyfriend of the main character, Maia, portrayed by the show’s creator and star Rachel Sennott, who also led the 2023 film Bottoms.
During an interview with Bustle, Hutcherson was asked if he was ready to “reclaim” his status as the internet’s boyfriend.
He laughed and admitted he had no idea he’d ever been given such a title.
The phrase “internet boyfriend” refers to celebrities widely adored online, often becoming the focus of collective affection or admiration. In recent years, figures like Pedro Pascal, Jeremy Allen White from The Bear, and Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey have also been seen as fitting this label.
At the time of the interview, Hutcherson was joined by his I Love LA co-star Leighton Meester, making the humorous exchange even more entertaining.
