The 1-7 Indiana Pacers will face the 6-2 Denver Nuggets on Saturday night, aiming to secure their second victory of the season. The game kicks off at 9 p.m. as the Pacers start their four-game road trip.
Indiana is coming off a 112-103 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, who had not won before that game on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Nuggets are riding a three-game winning streak, including a dominant 129-104 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Friday.
Last season, Indiana and Denver split their matchups 1-1, but prior to the Pacers’ 125-120 win on April 6, Indiana had lost nine consecutive games to the Nuggets. On Saturday, the Pacers will try to claim another victory against the Western Conference's No. 4 seed.
The only update on Indiana’s injury report is the status of guard Andrew Nembhard. He injured his shoulder during the season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder and has not played since. However, Nembhard is expected to return for the game against Denver.
“Nembhard's availability is excellent news for the Pacers given their backcourt injury issues,”
If Nembhard had not been ready, Indiana likely would have relied on newly acquired guard Monte Morris, who is reportedly available to play against his former team.
Indiana looks to improve its struggling season with a key player returning, while Denver aims to continue its strong start to the year.
Author’s Note: The Pacers are counting on Andrew Nembhard’s return to strengthen their backcourt as they face a tough Nuggets squad on the road.
