Heroes of Newerth Reborn: Everything We Know

Heroes of Newerth: Reborn is making a comeback, rebuilt from scratch to compete with major MOBAs like Dota 2 and League of Legends. Before these titles dominated the scene, Heroes of Newerth was among the first to introduce modern features to the genre.

Originally developed by S2 Games and later acquired by Garena, the game earned a cult following due to its complex mechanics inspired by the original Dota. At its height, it attracted 150,000 concurrent players and maintained a competitive esports scene worldwide, nurturing future stars like N0tail.

Despite its success, the game struggled to maintain a sustainable player base and officially shut down in 2022.

The Revival: Heroes of Newerth Reborn

In a surprise move, Heroes of Newerth: Reborn is set to return. It is led by Kongor Studios in partnership with Garena, who acquired the game's rights in 2015. Kongor Studios is an indie team featuring many of HoN’s original developers, veterans from Frostburn Studios, and contributors from Project Kongor.

"When Heroes of Newerth first announced that the game was reaching the end of its lifecycle, Project Kongor immediately went to work to preserve the game."

After the official closure, the community servers launched quickly, welcoming fans back without much delay.
